Ramadan 2027 Capsule Wardrobe: 8 Pieces for Taraweeh, Iftar and Eid

The short answer: a Ramadan capsule wardrobe is eight pieces — two prayer dresses or prayer sets, one khimar, two everyday abayas, one occasion abaya for Eid, and two hijabs (one everyday, one dressy). Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on or around 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on or around 9–10 March 2027 (both dates depend on the moon sighting). Order Eid pieces by about 1 February (delivery takes 5–15 business days and Chinese New Year around 6 February can slow suppliers): popular sizes sell out in the final week of Ramadan.

Ramadan and Eid 2027 dates for Europe

Islamic dates follow the lunar calendar and shift about eleven days earlier each year. Calendar projections put the first day of Ramadan 1448 on Monday 8 February 2027 (first taraweeh the evening before, Sunday 7 February; moon-sighting dependent) and Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027. Eid al-Adha follows on or around 16–17 May 2027, with Hajj in the same week. Local mosques and councils in the UK, Germany, France and Sweden confirm the exact day after the moon sighting, so plan for a one-day margin.

What this means for your wardrobe: Ramadan 2027 falls in winter. Taraweeh nights are cold, iftars are indoors, and Eid day is in early March — think layers, opaque fabrics and warmer khimars rather than the linen of a summer Ramadan.

The 8-piece Ramadan capsule

  1. Two prayer dresses or prayer sets. One by the door, one in your bag or at the office. A one-piece prayer dress with an attached hijab is the fastest change for five daily prayers and taraweeh; a two-piece set (khimar + skirt) is roomier for long nights.
  2. One khimar. A waist- or hip-length khimar in jersey or crepe covers the head, shoulders and chest over any abaya — the single most useful Ramadan layer.
  3. Two everyday abayas. A black and a neutral (stone, mushroom or sage) from the everyday abayas range: opaque, crease-resistant nida or crepe, worn to work, school runs and the mosque.
  4. One occasion abaya. Embroidered, lace or satin from occasion & Eid abayas — worn for Eid and for the iftars that matter. Matching family looks are easiest with abaya sets.
  5. Two hijabs. One everyday (jersey or modal) and one dressy (satin or chiffon), in tones that match both abayas. See the hijab fabric guide if you are choosing between fabrics.

Everything else is optional: an underscarf or two, a set of hijab magnets, and a longline hoodie for the walk to the mosque.

What to wear for taraweeh

Taraweeh is long, standing, and — in February — cold on the way in and warm inside a full mosque. The priorities are opacity, ease of movement and quick changes. A prayer dress over leggings and a base layer works on its own; a closed abaya with a khimar over it is the warmer alternative. Avoid anything that needs re-pinning between rak'ahs: instant hijabs, amira hijabs and khimars all hold without pins.

Iftar and family gatherings

Iftar dressing sits between everyday and Eid. A satin or embroidered abaya from the occasion range, an everyday abaya with a dressier hijab, or a kaftan for at-home gatherings all work. Kimono and open abayas layer over an inner dress and are the easiest to wear for hosting — see open abayas.

Eid al-Fitr outfits

Eid day is the one day of the year most of us plan an outfit for. In 2027 it lands in early March: choose fabrics with some weight (satin, crepe, embroidered nida) and pair with a satin or chiffon hijab in a tone from the same family. Coordinated mother-and-daughter looks are in girls & teens. Browse the full seasonal selection in the Eid & Ramadan edit, and check the size guide for lengths — occasion abayas are cut long.

When to order what

  • Now – January: prayer dresses, khimars and everyday abayas — you will wear them from day one.
  • By about 1 February: Eid abayas and sets, in your size and length, before the final-week sell-out.
  • Last week of Ramadan: hijabs, magnets and gifts only — shipping windows get tight before Eid.
  • After Eid: Eid al-Adha in mid-May needs a second occasion look; lighter fabrics by then.
