Burgundy & Red Hijabs

Our burgundy and red hijabs bring warmth to a modest wardrobe, from bright red, crimson and brick to wine, maroon and deep berry. For everyday wear, choose soft viscose, stretchy premium jersey or a modal hijab with its own matching undercap; the Instant Amira XL slips on in seconds.

Long silk-feel satin and ombre two-tones such as wine navy suit Eid and evening plans, and pre-tied turbans are an easy option too. Burgundy looks rich against our brown abayas and softly striking with cream and grey.

What to wear with burgundy and red

Burgundy is one of the easiest strong colours to wear: it looks rich with black, navy, camel and chocolate, and gentle against cream, beige and soft grey. Pure red makes more of a statement, so keep the rest of the outfit simple – a plain black or beige abaya lets it shine. Wine and maroon are a lovely autumn and winter alternative to black, and suit most skin tones.

Choosing the fabric

Viscose has a soft, matte drape and breathes well, while premium jersey is stretchy, opaque and stays put without pins. Modal and bamboo modal hijabs come with a matching undercap, which is especially handy with deep reds, where a mismatched cap would show. For weddings and Eid, silk-feel satin hijabs – including crinkle and ombre styles – catch the light beautifully; lighter chiffon is best layered over an undercap.

Caring for red tones

Rich reds can release a little dye in the first washes, so wash them separately or with dark colours, inside out and on a cool, gentle cycle. Dry in the shade rather than in bright sun to keep the colour deep.

Frequently asked questions

Does a burgundy hijab go with a black abaya?
Yes – it is one of the most flattering pairings. Burgundy adds warmth to black without looking loud. Choose silk-feel satin for evenings, or viscose and jersey for everyday.
What colours go with a burgundy hijab?
Black, navy, camel, chocolate, cream, beige and grey all work well. For a softer look, add a touch of dusty pink; avoid bright red right next to burgundy, as the two tones can clash.
Will a red hijab bleed in the wash?
Deep reds can release some dye in the first few washes. Wash them separately or with dark colours, inside out on a cool cycle, and avoid long soaks.
Can I wear a red hijab for Eid or a wedding?
Yes, red and burgundy are popular festive colours. A long silk-feel satin hijab or an ombre style looks instantly dressy. If you are a wedding guest, it is worth checking first whether the bride will be wearing red.
