Closed abayas: the everyday classic

A closed abaya is a one-piece garment that pulls on over the head or zips at the front — no layering needed, no gaps, nothing to adjust. It is the simplest daily abaya and the one most of our customers reach for on school runs, work days and travel.

Styles here

Plain everyday abayas, pocketed stand-collar styles, batwing and butterfly abayas, and smooth crease-resistant nida abayas. For layering, switch to open abayas; for a matched look, abaya sets.

Care and fit

Cool wash, hang to dry, minimal ironing on nida and crepe. Fit is relaxed through the body with elasticated or tie cuffs — see the size guide for length by height.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a closed abaya and a jilbab?
They overlap: a closed abaya is a one-piece outer dress; a jilbab is a long outer garment that may include an attached hood or khimar. In practice, many closed abayas are worn as jilbabs.
Do closed abayas have pockets?
Several of ours do — look for "pockets" in the product title or fit notes.
Are closed abayas warm?
Fabric decides it: nida and crepe are mid-weight for year-round wear; linen and cotton are for summer.
