Khimar: full, flowing coverage in one piece

A khimar is a long, cape-like head covering that falls over the head, shoulders and chest. Unlike a hijab, you don't wrap or pin it: you pull it on, settle the face opening and you're ready. That's why many women choose a khimar for prayer, the mosque and busy days, and why it's often called a khimar hijab or an instant khimar.

Our khimars

The instant jersey khimar is one piece of soft, stretchy matte jersey: a fitted cap with a band frames the face, and a long circular cape covers the head, chest, back and arms to the hips. The cape khimar with niqab straps is made from light, opaque crinkled jazz crepe in two layers and falls to mid-thigh front and back. For head-to-toe coverage there's the one-piece jilbab with khimar, and for salah a prayer set with a jersey khimar and matching skirt.

Which khimar should you choose?

For everyday wear and travel, the jersey khimar is the easiest because it stays put without pins. If you wear a niqab, choose the cape khimar with straps. For a complete prayer outfit, prayer dresses or a jilbab may suit you better. Our guide jilbab, abaya, khimar and kaftan explained compares them.

Care: cool wash at 30°C in a mesh bag, no softener, hang to dry. Pair a khimar with niqabs or closed abayas.
